Intro and August Goals

I have been thinking that I should start this blog for a while now and continually put it off.  I think it's mostly due to the fact that in the past I have been a sporadic blogger at best and the idea of starting yet another blog seemed a bit silly.  But, I also knew that I wanted a central place to keep track of my fitness progress, nutrition (including recipes), house projects, and general life happenings.  I've tried various other avenues (Pinterest, Facebook, etc) to do some of this but it hasn't worked well for whatever reason so I'm going to attempt blogging and see where it gets me (wish me luck ;) ).

My August Goals

Setting goals has always been easy for me but remembering what goals I have and actually achieving them is where I get hung up.  I have realized that in the past I would set unrealistic goals which would lead to me becoming overwhelmed and feeling defeated and more than a little envious of those people who seem to thrive on making and completing goals.  My solution has been to write out very simple, small goals for myself in various categories and build on those each month.  It has done amazing things for my confidence level and the general organization of my everyday life.

Here are my goals for the month of August:

House Projects
Strip/paint/install transoms above bedroom doors
Clean windows - all 44 (we installed new windows and they're all covered in sticker marks and smudges)
Sand/stain baseboard and window near stairway
Tuck point brick foundation

Household
Clean bathrooms 3x
Clean all floors 4x
Clean kitchen every night
1 load of laundry every day (wash, dry, fold and put away)
Change sheets 1x/week

Dogs
Bath 1x/week
Haircuts - 1x
Stormy - brush teeth daily
Brush/shed 1x/week
Walk 2x/week

Nutrition (I plan on making an exception to this at a wedding I am attending this month but otherwise no excuses)
No grain or beans (my digestion appreciates it)
Green smoothie every day
Green juice every day
No refined sugar

Fitness
50 crunches and 50 push-ups every day
Run 2x/week
Sign up for 5K

Personal
Paint nails 1x/week
Read 1 book

This LOOKS like a really long list but they're all simple and achievable.  I love being able to build on the goals/habits each month.  My house is already cleaner and more organized than it's ever been and I am not overwhelmed by the thought that I have to do it all at once.
